Performance V8 Engine Reconditioning
Brisbane
7 Moss Street, Slacks Creek, Qld 4127
UMR Engines can fully race prepare your engine to
suit your custom requirements. UMR offers custom
built heads from slightly modified street to full race
heads. At UMR we can build a head ensuring you
receive the best possible performance available
without blowing your budget. We will match your
valves, springs, collets and retainers to the
selected camshaft. We blue print your spring
tensions to suit the cam specs to ensure trouble
free performance eliminating coil bind or valve
bounce.
UMR performance heads are ultrasonically and
chemically cleaned, crack tested and pressure
tested for suitability. At UMR Engines we calculate
the engine compression and machine the required
amount off the head face. UMR engines have a
Berco head mill running CBN tooling on a Winfield
jig allowing accurate 4 point set up and very
accurate finishes. Accurately machining 010", 020",
030", 040" or 050" off alloy or cast iron heads while
still maintaining the perfect finish to ensure a
perfect seal and long life of your head gasket. Multi
angle valve seats and valve faces ensure ultimate
performance and air flow. Valve guide fitting, valve
seat inserting, screw in studs, are all part of UMR's
reconditioning service.
Your race prepared block will be chemically cleaned
and inspected for faults and suitability for
machining. Camshaft bearings, Welch plugs and oil
gallery plugs will be removed. The main tunnels will
be tensioned to specs and measured for size. Main
cap stud kits can be supplied and fitted if required.
Cylinders will be individually bored 0025" short of
the finished size to allow adequate cross hatch
honing to achieve the optimum ring to bore seal.
New cam bearings will be fitted and checked for
correct clearance of new camshaft. All rotating
engine components require balancing to ensure
vibration free performance, durability and
maximum performance. (balancer, pistons, rods,
flywheel, pressure plate, crankshaft)Con rods will
be measured for size, replaced or closed and honed
to suit required specifications. Pistons will be
assembled to con rods and checked for alignment.
Ring gaps checked and adjusted to suit use and
fuel. If a specific compression ratio is being
achieved a dummy assembly and cc measurements
will be needed for the compression calculator. Head
gasket selection and block face machining will
achieve the compression ratio required. Final
washing involves a through clean of all
components with particular attention using hot
soapy water in the bores.
